Menopause Therapy
Menopause is a special interest of mine. Going through this personally has made me more aware of the lack of knowledge and understanding that we experience.
It became so important that I even did my Masters degree dissertation at Keele University on this subject.
Although almost every women will experience menopause at some point in their life, it is still rather a taboo subject, with scant information and insufficient health care. We understand that this is a natural stage in life and is able to be navigated with some help and understanding

What is Menopause?
Menopause is a stage in a woman's life when she ceases menstruation, usually between the ages of 45-55, although some women may experience this earlier or later. It is caused by the loss of ovarian follicular function and a decline in oestrogen levels. A women is deemed menopausal when she has not had a period for 12 months.
Peri-menopause
Peri-menopause refers to the transitional time before menopause. During peri-menopause levels of oestrogen begin to decrease and you many begin to have menopause -like symptoms, such as hot flushes or irregular periods. Some people are in peri-menopause for only a short time, but for many it can last for several years. The term peri-menopause simply means the time when your cycles are no longer predictable.
Symptoms of Menopause
There are many and varied symptoms of menopause, some women get a few, some may get many and others hardly any. These symptom can have a significant impact on your everyday life. Some common symptoms include- hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and discomfort, difficulty sleeping, low mood or anxiety, reduced sex drive or problems with memory and concentration. These symptoms can sometimes occur years before menopause and last for significant time afterwards, so it may be difficult to recognise them as menopausal symptoms.
Lifestyle and Menopause
There are lifestyle changes that you can make to help with your menopause symptoms like getting plenty of rest, eating a healthy diet, having calcium rich foods to keep bones healthy.
